Is David Hogg a Traitor or Patriot?
First, I ask you do not jump to conclusions without the honest look at the facts. We shall start with the definition of the words
– George Washington, First Annual Address, to both House of Congress, January 8, 1790
-George Washington, Debates of the Massachusetts Convention of February 6, 1788
– Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
– Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
“To disarm the people…[i]s the most effectual way to enslave them.”
– George Mason, referencing advice given to the British Parliament by Pennsylvania governor Sir William Keith, The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adooption of the Federal Constitution, June 14, 1788
I will stop now but there are many more. Here is a good link for more: Gun Quotes From Our Founding Fathers – 2nd Amendment Please, use them to drive liberals mad!!
So we have on one hand a foul-mouthed teenage boy Demanding to be heard. Here he DEMANDS that our Vice President listen to him and his “Superior Knowledge” From the Washington Times: David Hogg demands Mike Pence cancel NRA speech Really? Who does he think he is? Is he mentally ill?
Now let’s look to see how banning guns would solve the issue.
From safehome.org:
“While firearm homicides are a major cause for concern, suicide by firearm makes up almost two-thirds of all gun-related deaths in the U.S. In fact, the number of firearm homicides has been on a general decline since 1993, while firearm-related suicides have increased in recent years.
Broken down, about 36,100 people die from firearms each year in the U.S. Suicides make up over 21,300 of those deaths, while homicides make up nearly 11,000. Legal intervention and accidental discharge of firearms are each responsible for roughly 500 deaths annually.”
“Homicide makes up about one-third of all firearm-related deaths. Firearms were used in nearly 72 percent of murders nationwide in 2015. Additionally, Louisiana and Mississippi have disproportionately high firearm homicide rates. Notably, most of the bottom 10 states for firearm homicides, except New York and Connecticut, are in the bottom 10 for gun ownership.”
So there are approx 11,000 homicides from Guns a year in America. The reality is that gun homicides are overwhelmingly tied to gang violence. In fact, a staggering 80% of gun homicides are gang-related. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), gang homicides accounted for roughly 8,900 of 11,100 gun murders in both 2010 and 2011. That means that there were just 2,200 non gang-related firearm murders in both years in a country of over 300 million people and 250 million guns.
These are the facts, Yet I hear no call from David Hogg for gangs to be disarmed or no foul language hurled at them. This is astonishing!! What I must be mistaken because the almighty Mr. Hogg says the culprit is the NRA. How many gang members are NRA members? Hmm!!
I tried Googling and researching how many NRA members committed murder and there are not many sources of information out there. Tends to make me believe there can not be many. Here is what I found How many NRA members have been involved in mass shootings?
Here are some stats on Deaths by Drug overdose which is 5 times higher than shooting homicides. From CNN: Opioids Kill More People Than Breast Cancer
“More than 63,600 lives were lost to drug overdose in 2016, the most lethal year yet of the drug overdose epidemic, according to a new report from the National Center for Health Statistics, part of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787
