State Rep. Daniel Didech has introduced a Bill in Illinois that would force gun buyers to reveal their public social media accounts to police before they are given permission to get a firearm license. Yes, you read that right.
This is not the only state that is trying to ripe rights away from U.S. Citizens. New York is also trying to pass an unconstitutional bill like this. Gun purchasers may need to submit social media history under proposed New York legislation
“Didech said his legislation follows a similar bill introduced late last year in the state of New York. Didech’s proposal is more modest, requiring Illinois gun buyers to only volunteer the handles of social media accounts, rather than asking buyers to also hand over their social media account passwords and allow authorities access to their browser histories, as the New York bill does.
